The annual EW Rotary Pikeminnow Derby takes place each Father's Day weekend.
Covering a stretch of the Columbia River from just below East Wenatchee to just
north of Orondo, competitors attempt to catch the most and largest Pikeminnows
that they can over the course of the weekend in order to receive merchandise and
cash prizes.  The major benefit of the event is the removal of 3,000 or more
Pikeminnows from the Columbia each year, protecting and promoting local salmon
populations by removing a major predator of young salmon.  Lots of fun for
competitors and East Wenatchee Rotarians alike!
